Here Goes Nothing…

December 19, 2006

I’ve seen this on several blogs and it always looked fun.

The Soundtrack to My Life
So, here’s how it works:
1. Open your music library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle/Random
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
YOU CAN’T CHEAT OR SKIP SONGS!

I used my iPod on Shuffle Songs.

Opening Credits:
Todd Snider – Trouble (I kinda like that for an opening credit song, except I’m not a guy. Ooooh – maybe it’s ABOUT me… huh, I don’t know if that’s good or bad ;)

Waking Up:
Sweet – The Ballroom Blitz (LOL – that was totally me this morning: watch out world)

First Day At School:
John Mayer – Love Songs For No One (… how did that even get into my library? Huh, pretty good description of things anyway – spooky)

Falling In Love:
Dixie Chicks – Everybody Knows (uh… maybe… I’m pretty transparent, you can read my face? It’s pretty, but I dunno…)

Breaking Up:
INXS – Need You Tonight (wow. Um. Possibly post breakup? Dude)

Prom:
Prince – Ballad of Dorothy Parker (I plead the fifth here)

Life’s OK:
The Police – King Of Pain (I like it in a really black, sick, twisted, sadistic kind of way)

Breakdown:
Green Day – She’s A Rebel (yeah baby – “She brings this liberation,That I just can’t defy”)

Driving:
Elmore James – Madison Blues (again, where did that one come from – but fun driving music)

Flashback:
Garth Brooks – Rodeo (this is where the wheels kind of come off…. what, I’m the horse?)

Getting Back Together:
Van Halen – Spanked (I uh… um… I like cheese. WTF? I guess it’s good that didn’t come up for either the flashback or wedding at least….)

Wedding:
White Zombie – Welcome to Planet Motherf******/Psychoholic Slag (at least there’s white in there, right? does that count? Gah – the real one wasn’t that bad)

Sex Scene:
Leann Rimes – I Need You (After the last one, I was really afraid of this one. But not bad. A little sappy, but I’m glad it wasn’t the Spanked one. Come to think of it – that would have been pretty damn funny)

Birth of Child:
Henry Lee Summer – I Wish I Had A Girl (LOL – title fits if nothing else)

Final Battle:
David Bowie – Chilly Down (Heh – what a perfect final battle soundtrack for me)

Death Scene:
Green Day – St. Jimmy (Rebel again, well now that’s just silly. Unless…. I’m going to be sainted!! Heh, not bloody likely!)

Funeral Song:
Brenda Russell – The Tracks Of My Tears (who’s directing this thing? That’s just way too happy for my funeral. We either need heartache or a wild-ass wake. I fully expect you people to drink a shot of tequila, and that’s the good stuff, on my grave and I get the rest of the bottle. Is that so much to ask?)

Dance Sequence:
Tears For Fears – Fish Out of Water (how do you dance to that?)

End Credits:
Toad The Wet Sprocket – Stupid (can I get a do-over? I love the Sprocket, but come on!)

Well that didn’t end well, did it? Still, pretty fun in spots. Give it a try, see what you get!

Everything Is Better With Bagpipes

October 12, 2006

I downloaded a bunch of Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys songs from iTunes the other night, and I finally got around to listening to them today while I was coding. I’ve spent the day with my headphones on either giggling maniacally (see the lyrics to Kiss Me I’m #!@#*faced) or headbanging to bagpipes. My new office mate thinks I’m nuts, but the rest of the place has just been shaking their heads cause it’s nothing new.

I knew I needed more Bagpipes in my life.

“Congratulations”
(feat. Imogen Heap)

Is that seat taken
Congratulations
Would you like to take a walk with me

My mind it kind of goes fast
I try to slow it down for you
I think I’d love to take a drive
I want to give you something
I’ve been wanting to give to you for years
My heart

My heart, my pain won’t cover up
You left me.. hu hu hu hu
My heart won’t take this cover up
You left me.. hu hu hu hu

I came to see the light in my best friend
You seemed as happy as you’d ever been
My chance of being open was broken
And now you’re Mrs. him.

My words they don’t come out right
But I’ll try to say I’m happy for you
I think I’m going to take that drive
I want to give you something
I have wanted to give to you for years
My heart

My heart, my pain won’t cover up
You left me.. hu hu hu hu
My heart
My heart won’t take this cover up
You left me.. hu hu hu hu

And I can’t change this
I can never take it back
But now I can’t change your mind
(You left me)
And I can’t this
I can never take this back
But now I can’t change your mind
can’t change your mind
(You left me)
Can’t change your mind
(You left me)
(You left me)
(You left me)
(You left me)

Go away
Make it go away
Please.

Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars

I don’t know where
Confused about how as well

Everytime I hear this song, those lines just jump out at me. It’s not even the context of the song, because until I downloaded it from iTunes, I hadn’t payed attention to most of the lyrics. Maybe it’s because those lines seem to sum up all the things I’m not sure of these days. And that list just gets longer by the minute.

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Or maybe it is in the context of the song. These days, I do just want a refuge from all the questions and uncertanties and problems that are out there. I treasure those days where Hubby and I just live in our own little world.

Of course, I’m home sick, so this all might just be the drugs talking…
