It Must Be Halloween

October 29, 2007

Because the zombie stuff is coming out of the woodwork. A friend just sent this link, and here’s an excerpt that is currently making me giggle inappropriately:

Parasites that turn victims into mindless, zombie-like slaves are fairly common in nature. There’s one called toxoplasmosa gondii that seems to devote its entire existence to being terrifying.

This bug infects rats, but can only breed inside the intestines of a cat. The parasite knows it needs to get the rat inside the cat (yes, we realize this sounds like the beginning of the most fucked-up Dr. Seuss poem ever) so the parasite takes over the rat’s freaking brain, and intentionally makes it scurry toward where the cats hang out. The rat is being programmed to get itself eaten, and it doesn’t even know.

I’m thinking that it wouldn’t be that much of a stretch from the current Dr. Seuss stuff. D

It’s All My Fault

October 29, 2007

I had a brilliant idea halfway through the game (World Series Game 3, Rockies vs Red Sox) on Saturday night. I was going to take my sock zombie, find something red to put on him, and get out the straight pins to make myself a little Red Sock Voodoo doll.

I got distracted by friends, and we all see the consequences of that. I’m so sorry.

PS – Stupid Red Sox

This Should Give Me Nightmares

October 26, 2007

But curiously, it doesn’t. Maybe it’s the difference between a web comic and a movie. I mean, zombies being controlled by an intelligence? Wiping out all human life? I should be in the fetal position, but I’m looking forward to the next installment…..

Hehehehe

I just bought this:

It’s a sock zombie. She has an Etsy shop now. I’d been reading her blog for a while and admiring the sock creations, but since it was through a feed, I had no idea I could buy them.
